Ending Support for Legacy Plethysmography

Our legacy plethysmograph system has officially retired starting September 1, 2019.

Over the past few years it has become increasingly difficult to support our legacy plethysmography data acquisition hardware and software, with considerable rises in costs associated with maintenance and support for existing systems. After careful consideration, it was decided to retire the legacy plethysmograph system.

Mucolytic Treatment in Allergic Airway Disease

Asthma is a complex disease, whose principal characteristics include reversible airflow obstruction, airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR), airway inflammation, airway remodeling and mucus hypersecretion. Airway mucus hypersecretion specifically is an important and dangerous pathophysiological manifestation of asthma.

American Thoracic Society 2022

This years ATS meeting took place in San Francisco, and our team was there to show off the new and exciting developments that you have come to expect from SCIREQ. With recent developments to both the flexiVent and inExpose systems, there was a lot to see. Come stay updated.

Assessing the Airway Contribution To Total Respiratory Compliance

The airways contribute to the total compliance of the respiratory system and, over the last 50 years or so, researchers have had an interest in establishing their specific contribution Indeed, the airway diameter as well as the volume of air available for ventilation following inspiration can both be affected by a change in the distensibility of the airways.

Experimental Biology 2022

At this year’s annual meeting, SCIREQ focused our discussions around our plethysmography system – the vivoFlow – which permits a continuous, non-invasive assessment of breathing patterns in conscious subjects, and allows for automated exposure to gas challenges, as well as aerosol delivery, wired and vascular access.

SCIREQ at Society of Toxicology 2022

SCIREQ recently attended this year’s Society of Toxicology (SOT 2022) Annual Meeting and ToxExpo. A common topic was in vitro exposure with air pollutants or wood fire smoke exposure. In addition to the posters, here are some of the highlights from this year’s SCIREQ booth!

Chronic Intermittent Hypoxia and Hypertension

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) is a complete or partial airway obstruction that can cause significant physiological disturbances with various clinical impacts such as snoring, nocturnal awakening, or daytime sleepiness.

Longitudinal Micro‑CT Derived Biomarkers in Silicosis Fibrosis Model

Pulmonary Fibrosis (PF) is a type of interstitial lung disease with a poor prognosis and response to current therapies. During the progress of this disease, the build-up of fibrotic tissue leads to an overall rigidity of lung architecture, leading to a gradual decline in lung function.

Visualizing Lung Physiology in Response to Chemical and Mechanical Assaults

Acute lung injury (ALI) arises from factors as diverse as endotoxin exposure, chemical assault, acute particulate exposures or mechanical impacts, as seen in ventilator induced lung injury (VILI). ALI and VILI studies push the understanding of both fundamental breathing mechanics and general lung physiology to describe how damage occurs in the hopes of mitigating of damage.

Longitudinal Studies with SCIREQ Systems

Longitudinal studies offer a wealth of information, particularly for diseases progression or development studies. In addition, smaller sample sizes are possible to accumulate significant data, as subject assessment is possible at multiple time points.
