2023 SOT - Nanoscience and Advanced Materials Specialty Section Mixer & Awards

The 2024 Society of Toxicology (SOT) Conference Exhibition will take place in Salt Lake City from March 10th to the 14th. Come to meet us at Booth 816 & 818!

NAMSS Outstanding Postdoctoral Award

Description:

This award is sponsored by SCIREQ – an emka TECHNOLOGIES company.

A certificate and cash award will be given to a postdoctoral student whose work represents an outstanding achievement in nanoscience and advanced materials. The amount of the award ($500) will be given to a single winner or divided amongst first, second, and third place winners at the discretion of the Nanoscience and Advanced Materials Awards Committee. Selection criteria include the statement of a clear hypothesis, thoroughness of relevant nanomaterial physicochemical characterization, quality of data interpretation, potential impact, and style. Although preference will be given to Specialty Section and SOT members at large, the primary criterion for this award is the importance of the investigator’s work to the field. Thus, postdoctoral candidates in other Specialty Sections are encouraged to apply.

Application materials include: Accepted SOT abstract, extended abstract (two pages maximum, tables/figures included), student CV, and one letter of recommendation (one from primary advisor).

In Vivo and In Vitro Smoke Exposure

We are proud to introduce our new expoCube, adding robust in vitro exposure to the automated inExpose system.

The expoCube provides a novel ALI (air liquid interface) culture exposure system, integrating with the inExpose’s existing exposure generators such as the integrated cigarette smoking robot and industry leading e-cigarette extensions.

The expoCube features:

  • Reproducibility: Efficient, uniform, and precise exposure of particulates onto target cells and tissues.
  • Precision: Optimized flow paths using advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling.
  • Deposition: Patented thermophoresis, increasing the deposition efficiency of small particles without imparting unnatural electrostatic charges onto the aerosols.

expoCube with Tray

The innovative design of the expoCube permits aerosol deposition profiles that are efficient, reproducible and translational.
