Software Quality Assurance Specialist

Location: Montreal, Canada

Established in 1997, SCIREQ is a world leader in the conception, design and manufacturing of precision laboratory equipment for preclinical respiratory research. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with a background in software testing and quality assurance to join our product development team.

The ideal candidate has a desire to work in a small business environment with a focus on cutting-edge technology. Working as a SCIREQ software testing specialist, you will assist our software development team, to ensure the quality of the software suite of our expanding line of scientific apparatus for pulmonary and other research.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Validation & testing of software releases following both pre-defined test strategies & ad-hoc testing;
  • Development, implementation & management of testing strategies & test protocols;
  • Development, implementation & management of automated testing;
  • Reproducing & documenting software bugs & issues found by clients or through internal testing;
  • Collaboration with software developers to ensure bugs and issues are addressed;
  • Documentation of software features, including both internal and end-user documentation;
  • Limited amounts of second or third level technical support; as it relates to software features;
  • Some administrative duties.

Qualifications                                                                                                                 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (software, computer, biomedical, etc.) or similar work experience;
  • Excellent computer knowledge (hardware & software);
  • Applicant must be detail oriented and organized;
  • Applicant must be curious and willing to take initiative;
  • The ability to work efficiently, both independently and in a team ;
  • English language skills (written and spoken).
  
Assets
  • Quality assurance & testing experience;
  • Familiar with the Agile development process;
  • Object-oriented software development experience;
  • Knowledge of respiratory mechanics;
  • Knowledge of subversion;
  • French language skills (written and spoken).
