Location: Montreal, Canada

Established in 1997, SCIREQ is a world leader in the conception, design and manufacturing of precision laboratory equipment for preclinical respiratory research.  We are seeking a detail‑oriented, proactive, and highly organized Purchasing Agent to support our operations by securing high‑quality components, equipment, and services at competitive prices. The ideal candidate excels in negotiation, enjoys working with internal teams and suppliers, and is comfortable using business systems and data to make smart purchasing decisions. As part of a small, innovative company specializing in life sciences instrumentation, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth production operations and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Managing the full purchasing cycle for components, equipment, and services.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and developing reliable suppliers.
  • Negotiating pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts.
  • Preparing and issuing purchase orders and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and collaborating with production and logistics teams.
  • Maintaining accurate data and documentation within ERP and purchasing systems.
  • Continuously optimizing purchasing processes and costs.
  • Resolving supplier issues related to quality, delays, or discrepancies.

Qualifications                                                                                                              
  • Experience as a Purchasing Agent, Buyer, or in procurement (manufacturing or technical environment preferred).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Solid ability to work with ERP systems, purchasing software, and Excel.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive, solution‑oriented mindset.  
Assets
  • Experience purchasing technical components or scientific equipment.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management best practices.
  • Familiarity with ISO‑regulated environments.
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
