Negative Pressure Forced Expirations

Forced Expirations, imposed on laboratory animals by means of rapidly switching the airway opening to negative pressure, attempt to mimic clinical spirometry in preclinical research.

Notes

  • It is important to keep in mind that substantial differences exist between spirometry data obtained from a cooperating, conscious human and NPFE data obtained from an anaesthetized rodent.
